Silk Vs real flowers for a wedding?

So i was thinking about making my own bouquets. Although i dont know if i want to make them with silk flowers or if i want to use real flowers. Which do you think looks better. Personally i think real flowers would look nicer only because the fake flowers i have ran into ultimately look way too cheesy and you can tell their fake!

Just want some opinions.

im thinking of using white and red roses andn carnations. with some ivy

Silk Vs real flowers for a wedding?
definitely real, and besides, what are you gonna do with all those fake flowers oncew the day is done... spose you could give them to guests, but still. I think your idea with roses, carnations and ivy is absoloutely lovely. Have an awesome wedding!
Reply:Real. I personally take real flowers over silk any day.
Reply:Real vs. Fake... I would have to go with real if you're concerned with the aesthetic but if price is a major concern you might want to go with silk flowers. However there is a website you might want to check out that has reasonably priced real flowers, www.freshroses.com. I have also heard that silicone flowers appear to be very realistic.
Reply:i think i would use high quality silks. stay away from michaels. quality silks look like the real thing and last forever. it is very pretty to put a silk bouquet under a glass dome for a table decoration after the wedding.
Reply:I am using silk flowers in my wedding because I want to be able to keep my bouquet forever. The only problem with silk is that it is kind of hard to find really good silk flowers. It took me a long time to find calla lilies that didn't look fake. So, if you are thinking what is easiest...go with real...but if you are thinking what would be cheaper and last longer...go with silk.
Reply:There is really nothing wrong with silk flowers. However, it is one special day, and it really is nice for everyone to have real flowers - makes everyone seem that little bit more cared for.
Reply:Do you realize how much you will be doing the day before your wedding. You'll never be able to make your own bouquets. Do you have any experience or the supplies needed? Do you have enough refrigeration to keep the flowers fresh? If you still plan on making your flowers, after I've pointed out just some of the problems, you should definitely go with silks. There are plenty of quality flowers available. In truth, the silks will probably end up costing you more ( for really good ones) Do you want to do this to save money? My I suggest that you get your bouquet made by a florist. For your attendants, pick out one beautiful "statement flower" such as a Calla Lily. The florist can wrap the stem with beautiful ribbons (to complement the colors of their dresses). They would carry cradled in the crook of their arm. Rather inexpensive, and quite lovely. Spend the money on YOUR bouquet. It will appear in many of your pictures. Please consider my advice and avoid any extra stress on your special day. Sorry, I did go on, didn't I?
Reply:I would go with the real ones...they'll smell and look beautiful.

You could also make some book marks with them...as a memory or keep sake.
Reply:I think real flowers.. I don;t think fake flower s look bad but its a special day and I think you want everything to look perfect go all out
Reply:I still have my bouquet and my bridesmaids do too. We had really nice ones made with really good silks. Not too expensive either - $100 for everything. Mine is now displayed in a shadow box with my husband's boutineer. It looks as nice as the day we were married.

We were married in June (small wedding in NY)and then had a big reception in Philly for friends and family. So we needed to have silks so we wouldn't have to buy two sets of flowers.

Don't go to AC moores or Michaels. They are the cheesy ones.

Try places like this:

http://www.pioneerwholesaleco.com/

You can google silk flowers to get tons of places that carry nicer looking silks. Good Luck!
Reply:I would encourage real flowers because they're just classier. Sadly, they're also much more expensive. If on a budget, I would choose to have small bouquets of real flowers over larger ones of fakes.
Reply:No doubt real, if you are not alergic. Besides of being much more classic and express good tatse, real flowers are real and everything real is better than those fakes that try to be like real....why to get something fake, if you can get the real one? Plus, you already answered your own question....silk or fake flowers are expression of cheesy. The most elegant hotels and places in the world, use real flowers on their decorations.
Reply:My fiance bought silk flowers for our wedding on ebay and they look amazing. It included her bouquet, bridesmaid bouquet and two button holes for about $45.
Reply:Honey, I hope you know what your in for. Bouquets are A LOT of work. Fresh flowers have to be done like the day before the wedding and they have to be kept refrigerated so they won't wilt. If you go with fresh flowers, I would suggest hiring a florist. On the other hand, I have made several bouquets out of silks. They are absolutely gorgeous. You just have to buy the high quality silks. It also helps to know what flowers and positions to put them in the bouquet. I wish you all the luck on your wedding day and I would still suggest you get alot of help or hire someone, or you are going to be all stressed out on your wedding day and no one wants that. Hey check out this website for great looking silk flowers, they will even give you advise. I order flowers from them all the time and they really look real. www.afloral.com
Reply:hi i had the same dilemma, the trouble with roses is that if they are out of water too long then will wilt. i am having silk flowers for my wedding, the roses i am using are velvety and the look really real. i would keep looking,i found mine on eBay of all places, i bought enough burgundy roses for mine, the maid of honor and my 2 flower girls and the button holes for about £42, and they look great. and just to add to the 'effect' i am using essential oils to make them smell like roses. the added benefit with silk flowers is that you get to keep them forever, good luck and i hope you find the perfect flowers.
Reply:sounds romantic real flowers always more romantic
Reply:First you have to think of cost. If you're ballin on a budget (as I like to say) then I would suggest silk flowers. I know the Michael's in my area has them in all white for pretty cheap (like 59 cents/flower)or you can google some sites for silk flowers if there isn't one in your area. However, if you have the money to splurge...then go for real. Personally I would go for fake only because you don't want your flowers wilting or falling apart in the middle of your special day. Plus you can jazz up silk flowers to give them real appeal. For example, say you want you carnations to be red at the tips of the petals. You could use a fabric spray and only coat the tips. You could also spray the silk flowers with a light floral perfume to give them a pleasant fragrance. The choice is yours, but I would look at the budget first. Good Luck!

What kind of flowers should i get for my first date?

so there is this girl i like , shes has pink short hair and is the kind of girl who sticks a pad to the back of your car and blows you a kiss goodbye. shes a little wierd she loves bunnies and pandas and shes got alot of attitude(she can act tuff but shes really sensative once you get to know her.). i asked what kind of flowers she liked and she gives me the " pick one that suites me best."

im an artist, ive known her for about 6 months and weve hung out before. on my b-day she bought me an outfit and a made me a box with a picture of me lookin like an idiot with a smile on my face with a journal in it. so now were goin out and i want to get her flowers for our first date. my question is what kind should i get. i dont know much about flowers, so im lookin for some flower genius's out there.

What kind of flowers should i get for my first date?
Pink roses. Or red roses are the ones you usually give to your true love. Pink are friendship, etc. Joy. Or carnations. Spicy, long lasting scent and bloom. First choice, pink roses. Take care.
Reply:http://ww12.1800flowers.com/product.do?b...

i think these would be perfect, just whatever you do DO NOT get red roses they are so typical and not impressive
Reply:Daisies. Get her daisies. If you want to be really cool, make a daisy chain out of them for her.
Reply:I would say some pink roses or some other flower that's pink
Reply:All that stupid answer about rose, you dont impress girk like that, use your brain as you are a artist, I suggest a bunch of platic Banana. She will remember you till her dying day.
Reply:maybe a single dark red rose
Reply:I'm not a flower genius by any means, but from what you describe - she sounds like someone that would like a wild flower bouquet - something unique - different. Talk to the florist - he/she can help you to pick out something unique that stands out and makes just the right statement.
Reply:No flowers! Not on the first.
Reply:buy her an orchid, they are hard to have but very rewarding and beautiful
Reply:The colour and style of flower you buy can send a particular message- definitely not carnations- these are usually reserved for a tragedy, death or condolences. Roses are good- do not purchase red unless you are both in love. Certain rose colours have meanings too- I believe that pink is okay, yellow means something like friendship, and other colours mean other things too. Certain flower baskets may be okay too- like Orchids, Gypsophilia, Baby's Breath, trailing ivory, lillies, and others, representing wild and fun themes. I'm sure a florists should be able to help you with this too. I believe FDA approved ones and others who are certified can help you with this the best.
Reply:Daisies
Reply:Gerber Daisies.... they are beautiful and bright!
Reply:If it were me, I would buy her a red, a pink, and a yellow rose. It's a good combination in my opinion.
Reply:roses
Reply:something bright, colorful and uncommon. some sort of wildflower or even tulips. roses are overrated.
Reply:an assortment of red and white roses! i think that fits u and her!
Reply:Get a bouquet of mixed flowers or maybe a single gladiola stem, very unique. A sunflower might be unique and fun.

Don't get roses, too boring and overdone.

Don't get carnations too cheap.
Reply:pink or white carnations would be nice. go to a florist and they will be glad to help you out
Reply:daisies, white daisies, they are simple yet elegant
Reply:fresh 3 roses and chocolates.
Reply:pink roses
Reply:roses always works........... try red one....... just one.... or u just can make a dozen with simple note........ hope its works

Seasonal flowers in October for Wedding Bouquets and illustrations for invitation?
Try this link - it should help. It will tell you the names of the seasonal flowers and then you can just look up some images of them.

The wedding websites also have good sections on flowers too.

Reply:I found these sites that may help. It looks like Amarylis may be in season, they are beautiful! I guess it would depend on what your color scheme is, but I think you can find just about anything you'd like. Good luck!

Ordering flowers/plants online...?

Has anyone ever ordered flowers online?

I want to send a plant (not fresh cut flowers) as a gift and want to order it online. (i.e. 1-800-flowers, proflowers, virtual florist, etc.)

Have you ordered online? From where? What was the quality? Do you recommend that site?

Ordering flowers/plants online...?
We've used 1-800-flowers.com. I think that it's good: reasonable cost and deliveries have always worked out. You could also contact a florist in the area that you want to have the plant delivered and order "locally" online. We have also done this and it worked out fine as well.
Reply:GO TO http://www.cajuncountrycandies... Report It

Reply:as a florist, I am telling you the truth here.

Your best bet is to call your local florist, or if you live out of town and need to "wire" flowers to someone, get on the internet and locate a flower shop in that area.

Most if not all flower shops will take an order using your credit card.

Do not make the mistake of putting a middle man (like 1-800) into your final sale, it will only make the costs go up.
Reply:Go to your local florist shop. They can arrange to have a live plant arrangement delivered just the same as they can arrange to have cut flowers delivered.

Good luck with your shopping.
Reply:I have found the best way to order plants/flowers is to call a local florist directly, in the town in which the recipent lives. The online ordering places seem to have lots of charges added on to the actually price of the plant and you never know what you'll get. However, if you call a local place you will just get a delivery charge. And they are much more likely to make you what you want, not just what is seen online. And local businesses are usually much more pleasant to work with than online order companies. Just go to a place like dexonline.com, type in floral and the city and you should get a list of local shops. Good Luck!

Reply:This question doesn't make any sense. According to the information given, he can offer any (endless) amounts of flowers. He can offer 1500 to each temple if he wanted to (which would be 3000 after they're washed) I think you forgot some info.
