Flowers for coworker?

Is it appropriate to send flowers to a coworker if she recommended you for your job and you are quitting only after a month? I worked with her somewhere else and when I found out the place she's working at was hiring, I applied and she spoke highly of me to the Boss and to the people at HR which resulted in me getting the job. But I've accepted a better job offer elsewhere and I feel bad that I'm leaving after a short time,but I'm very appreciative that she got me the job.





So do you think flowers are ok? If so, what kind of flowers?

You could also write on the card " thank you for giving me this opportunity to work with you and for the company, it has been a pleasure to work with you" . I think a nice cheerfull springlike flower arrangement would be nice. What a nice way to say thank you ,,,,,,,
Reply:Rather than sending her flowers, I would send her a handwritten note on nice stationery or a card telling her how appreciative you are that she recommended you for the job, and how you are sorry to be leaving after such a short time. If you do send her flowers, don't send them to the office - she will be embarassed that she was the one who recommended you and won't want to highlight that fact to her coworkers!
Reply:How about flowers and an APOLOGY! She put her professional reputation on the line for you by recommending you for the job and now you're leaving after a month. You think her employer is going to trust her opinion and judgement in the future?

Help all my flowers and shrubs are dying :(?

I just moved into a new house with two flower beds in front. The large one had what I assume was top soil in it, it didn't look all that bad so I added some compost to it and planted away. However the other smaller flower bed was full of clay and poor soil. I replaced the clay with top soil and compost. the smaller flower bed has a sprinkler head and the larger bed is watered by me in the morning. I planted bulbs in the larger bed last fall and about 3/4 of them came up, those who did come up seemed fine and bloomed normal. I recently planted identical perenial flowers and shrubs in the two beds. The smaller bed is doing fine the larger bed everything but the bulbs are dying. Light is the same for both the only major difference is the soil in them, and the method of watering. I check the beds for moisture later in the day and they seem equal despite the different method of watering. I would assume soil but the flowers died with in two days of planting would poor soil be that quick?

The pH is probably very different in the beds. You can take soil samples from each bed to your nearest university. They usually have university extensions that can test them for you.
Reply:take some soil samples...call a nursery and ask where you can have your soil tested....it could be that you are over watering ...sprinklers even out the water.hand watering may not be giving them enough water or too much...before you spend any more money on shrubs and plants ...have your soil tested...both beds..much luck

Daffodils, Viburnum, Mahonia, Primulas, Primroses, Hellebores (Christmas Roses), crocus, Ribes, Forsythia - go to google and click on images before searching and you'll have some beautiful pics for inspiration. Good luck :-)
Reply:Crocus, daffodils,snowdrops,flowering plum trees, winter flowering cherry,black thorn,hazel,willow. More trees than flowers at the moment, give it a few weeks and you will be spoilt for choice
Reply:Senecio petasitis, Arum Lilies, Brugmansia (Datura) sanguinea, Crocus, Daffs, Snowdrops, Camellia, Magnolia are all flowering here at the moment.
Reply:A lot of garden centres have pots of primulas, all ready for Mother's Day, and they'll be easily displayed at the entrance usually to catch the eye of every customer.


They'd also have hellebores, daffodils, crocus, snowdrops, pansies... all ready for sale. Go to a good large one, and see what's there in flower.


You could either photo them, sketch them or make a note of them and look them up online, as somebody else has suggested.


But, a garden centre should have most stuff that's in season all there for you see, at any time of the year.

i think whoever was given the flowers should carry them. why would you accept a gift just to make someone else take care of it for you? (not you, but "you" as in people in general)

Go to your public library and check out a gardening book, or a book on tropical plants or something similar. That will probably give you better images to work from than something off the internet. But Google images will work.
