Was it a bad idea for me to send this girl flowers?

I didn't know this girl that well. I'm 24 and she's 19. We hung out twice several months ago and she kind of acted like she liked me. I bumped into her at a party the other night. She asked me if I remembered her and I forgot who she was briefly which seemed to upset her. I remembered later. Anyway, I realized I liked her a lot that night. She is going through a tough time because her friend is in the hospital and I went ahead and ordered her some flowers (not roses) and had them delivered to her parents house where she stays yesterday afternoon. I put on the card %26quot;Smile, Kassi...from a guy who's very sorry he forgot your name.%26quot; We have no way to contacting each other except through Myspace and I haven't gotten a message or anything from her, so i'm just wondering do you all think that I maybe I creeped her out?

Was it a bad idea for me to send this girl flowers?
I don't think you creep her out. She is just dealing with a lot, You probable put a smile on her face. That was sweet and thoughtful.
Reply:a little...maby u did...srry 2 say...maby u should hav put u'r name %26amp; # on them...IDK try 2 get her # %26amp; talk 2 her 1 on 1
Reply:Well, if I was in that situation that wouldn't creep me out at all. That was very nice of you, and I'm sure she enjoys the gesture. I wouldn%26#039;t worry about it. I%26#039;m sure you'll hear from her soon, but, like you said, she has a lot going on right now so I wouldn't expect anything to happen super fast.
Reply:no thats cute, just dont go to far if in a week she doesnt write you a message or comment you leave her a comment.%26amp; be like are you already forgetting me :(
Reply:Just a little, yet you should let her know that your there for her if she need support or anything else. Do what you can to make her happy.
Reply:No I dont think you did but in a way it is somewhat rude from her to not tell you thank you or anything but I dont think you did anything wrong
Reply:I don't know how she'll perceive it, but personally I think it was a very sweet thing to do!!
Reply:No, you did a really nice thing! Now she may know that you truly are a good person who cares. It is the thought that counts! Good luck with everything!

Why would one use FTD,TELEFORA OR 800FLOWERS TO SEND FLOWERS?

my florist just told me that when I use these companies to send my mom flowers, the florist who gets the order only gets 80 percent of the money I paid and the %26quot;wire service%26quot;keeps 20 percent or more,

and in most cases knocks my order down to a smaller version of what In ordered!! they have never told me this was being done.

She also told me to find a florist in my moms zip code and call them direct to get exactly what I paid for . huh ,well now I know better.Just don%26#039;t understand why these companies never told me these things. just wondering if you guys knew this?

Why would one use FTD,TELEFORA OR 800FLOWERS TO SEND FLOWERS?
I suggest using the yellow pages for that area and calling a local florist. They are just as nice flowers and usually a lot less expensive. I did this for a funeral out of state and just told them the amount I wanted to spend. They took care of the rest. I attended the funeral and the flowers were better than expected. More for your money!!
Reply:if the person who you are sending the flowers to lives far away, these flower services are useful
Reply:They have to get paid for the convenienve they are providing. Also, when we had a problem on a recent order it was no problem to resend or refund. It was my choice with no pressure on resending.
Reply:I learned not to do it here on Yahoo! Answers some time ago. I guess that%26#039;s what this is for.
Reply:They wouldn%26#039;t be in business if everyone knew that.

They are just a convenience so you don%26#039;t have to go searching for a florist in a far away city/state.

The key is like anything you purchae; sale items or items they have a clearance on.......that%26#039;s when you get your money%26#039;s worth.
Reply:I have found this out myself. You need a credit card or an account set up with order with your local florist, or drive there at the high cost of gasoline. Some prefer the easy way. I drive to my local florist and ask them to send it. But, sometimes they go through one of those services anyway.
Reply:yeah. they suck. call the florist in the local area. get a mom and pop not a big suckah!!!
Reply:Well of course the wire service needs to get paid.

The local florist is cheating on the agreement with the service by downsizing the order though. You should report them.

Obviously, getting orders from all over the country is worthwhile, so the local shops pay for the national exposure by agreeing to let the services take a portion of the fees. They aren%26#039;t supposed to keep their same profit margin. Its the local shop cheating, not the national service.
Reply:They often have great coupons online, plus you don%26#039;t have to track down a florist who you don%26#039;t know (especially if your sending to someone out of state). They also guarantee their products. Anytime I%26#039;ve stated I wasn%26#039;t satisfied, I%26#039;ve gotten a complete credit.
Reply:I wouldn%26#039;t recommend FTD or Teleflora, but a long time ago 1-800-Flowers pioneered something called %26quot;Fresh From Our Growers%26quot;, which lets you get flowers shipped directly from the people who grow the flowers (usually from South America or Europe). In other words, your flowers cost less and last longer because they don%26#039;t spend a week or more dying in a florist%26#039;s refrigerator. They%26#039;re shipped via air in refrigerated containers from the source, and forwarded directly to you.

I would recommend a florist when you need the flowers professionally arranged, but for family members who like to arrange their flowers themselves, I%26#039;ve had great success with 1-800-Flowers fresh flowers.
Reply:Lack of information and the ease of using them.
Reply:well they are doing the research and finding the florist - the florists have contracts with them and agree on a lowered price amount for the flowers for referral through the 1-800 system. it is a referral fee. they are NOT permitted to substitute a smaller order then the one you buy - that is against the BBB and you can complain if you pay for a large flower and she gets a smaller one - it may be slightly different from the picture depending on what flowers are in season in the area where your mother lives and so forth.

the best way is to use yahoo yellow pages and look up a florist near you mother call them - you will not however be able to see a picutre of the size you are getting - you can though call around to a few in her area to get the best deal this way.
Reply:If your far away from your man or women, its easy to call a FTD and send flowers its convient.

Why do my seedings die when I try to grow flowers?

I like to try to grow flowers from seed for example shasta daisys and anyway I get them to sprout and they grow till about 1/2 an inch and then they shrivel up at the bottom of the stem and die. I will use a bag and make a green house affect and it seem when I take the bag off it dies. I keep it well watered after I take the bag off so it doesn%26#039;t dry out.what is the problem.

Why do my seedings die when I try to grow flowers?
It might be a fungus called damping off that sometimes strikes new seedlings. Hereis a web site about the prevention and control:

http://gardenhobbies.com/howtogrow/dampi...

This web site also has lots of other good garden information.
Reply:Be sure not to over water as the bag holds in most of the moisture your seedlings need...a heat source to the bottom of your plants is a plus and a florescent light about 3%26quot; away from the plants should do the trick.

Valentine's Day is coming up!! I wanted to arrange for some flowers to be delivered to a special someone and

have it arrive in her classroom. This is her last year before graduation and I wanted it to be a memorable one. So I contacted some of her friends to find out which class she has on that day. I specifically requested for the friends NOT to say anything to her out of resepect. Even if they do not want to help, I asked them to keep their mouth shut. I really want it to be a suprise.

Well..the friends could not keep their mouth shut and revealed my plans to her!!

Moments ago, she emails me to inform me that my actions are affecting her friends and that she doesn%26#039;t want any flowers because it is a waste of space.

Unfortunately, the flowers has already been paid for and will arrive on Valentines Day regardless.

What should I do? Why do I feel bad? Did I do something wrong? Am I at fault here??

Please help!

Valentine%26#039;s Day is coming up!! I wanted to arrange for some flowers to be delivered to a special someone and
I would pull a %26quot;slick one%26quot; on her. I would call the florist and arrange for the flowers to be delivered to her home instead of at school. She may not be someone who likes to receive gifts in front of other people. So, it may not be that she doesn%26#039;t want the flowers...it may just be that she doesn%26#039;t want to get them at school.

If you send them to her at home she will still get to enjoy them and know that you care about her but it just won%26#039;t be a big production at school with the possibility of her friends at school teasing her.

:) Best Wishes,

Ms. Orchid
Reply:You did nothing wrong, you had really good intention and thats what matter if she not appreciative then thats not your fault and now u know for the next 1 u cant count on her friends.

Ok, my mother doesn't have a green thumb but loves to plant flowers.?

She%26#039;s planted 6 rose bushes which are doing fine, we%26#039;ve used some of that roll out flower stuff that seeds and sprouts which are slowly coming up. Some of the potted plants, however aren%26#039;t doing to well. They are losing thier color. She prepared the soil with Gardening Soil, manure, and the top soil that was there. Been watering them almost everyday, and they get a fair amount of sun. I don%26#039;t remember the names of what she planted. What I%26#039;d like to know is: How much/often should they be watered, and any tips for keeping them alive.

Ok, my mother doesn%26#039;t have a green thumb but loves to plant flowers.?
Watering every day is too much for most plants, and if the pots aren%26#039;t set to drain, then the plant/flower may be developing root rot.

I water every 2 or 3 days for outside hanging plants, and when they start looking a *little* droopy for inside plants/flowers - usually about every 4 days or so.

Plant food goes a long way towards making them grow and look healthy, too.
Reply:according to the temperature. if temps are in the 70 dont water at all. if in the mid to low 80s water every other day well. if in the high 80s, or in full sun wate every day.

add some plant food like miracle gro. this will add some color to the flowers
Reply:you should only water when the soil dets dry, you can stick your about half your finger into the pot and if its dry you water or if the pot feels light, but if you leave the soil wet the soil will begin to rot,
Reply:Stop watering them every day. That is the problem.
Reply:As long as you water them enough to never let them stress out by drying out they will flower.

Not knowing the types of flowers grown it%26#039;s always a good idea to deadhead the spent flowers on the plants will encourage new flower growth.

Don%26#039;t let the flowers set seed that signals the end of the plants life.

Keep a sharp eye out for pests and diseases and contain them promptly.

Make sure that they recieve at least 6 hours of ditect sun light per day.

Fertilize once a week with a liquid fertilizer at half the strength recommended. To much growth to fast will attract insects.

Keep weeds at bay as to not steel food and weaken the flowers.

There you go, all good solid techniques to manage a successful flower bed. Have fun and Good Luck.
Reply:well, i%26#039;d water ever 2 or so days....providing it doesn%26#039;t rain...then i wouldn%26#039;t water at all. Over watering can kill them just as quickly as neglect can. You may have her try container gardening.

Buy pots and potting soil and pick out some pretty plants (petunias, impatients, begonia work really well and stand up to heat and humidity ) You can use plant food but most potting soils have it already in it so too much may hurt the plants. Also when the flowers die - you need to remove them to make room for fresh blooms...this is called dead heading (no joke) Have her try a few pots of these. Again...water every other day or so.....I have LOTS of luck with these and have been container gardening for 6 years.
Reply:If you don%26#039;t have the pots with care instructions or the little tags that come in them, maybe you can look them up or just go back to the store if you need to identify them.

Depending on how long they%26#039;ve been in the ground, they may be going through transplant shock. Water them every couple of days, taking care to not water the foliage, but rather the soil, making sure the water is going deep enough. Water in the evening or mornings, I prefer mornings. Then give them enough time to adapt and see if they don%26#039;t come back strong.

And last but not least, sometimes it%26#039;s the luck of the draw as far as plants go. They may have been raised in areas that are not compatible to where they are shipped and although they look good when first arriving at the store, they don%26#039;t fare so well once you get them home. Find a good website like davesgarden.com or bhg.com to find plants suited to your gardening zone.

Should I send my ex a bday present? Card? Flowers?

My ex (went out for a yr) and I still got along really well (talk for hrs often - practically every day) and had hooked up occasionally...after 7 months of this, I decided it was time I needed some space to move on properly. Now i dont wanna get back with her.. but i still dont like hearing about her new guy/s etc. and shes shown some jealous tendencies towards girls i see. I still care for her..as a close friend or even more but im certain i dont want it to go back to a relationship.

I have removed all her contact info from anything that is easily accessible to me..ie phone messenger etc. to get out of the comfort rutt.

But its her bday in a month.. I know im not totally over her.. (slowly getting there).. Will sending a gift/card/flowers be a setback for either of us (I dont intend on going back to the daily talks again)?

She really wanted to keep me in her life but I just cant be friends after a relationship...so the cut off was my decision.

Should I send my ex a bday present? Card? Flowers?
You don`t want her in your life so why do you think you should send her something for her bd? It is a bad idea.

You don`t want to have anything around you that reminds you of her so move on.

Get out into the world and meet new people. Join something.

Every time you feel like you want to talk to her just call your mom or sibling.
Reply:you have to decide.. how important is she in your life.. which position does she take??.. no one can decide that for you.

You decide.. and do the same to let her know.. simple.
Reply:That can be kind of tricky...presents and flowers?..I%26#039;m pretty sure you%26#039;re asking this question because you don%26#039;t really want to pass up her bday without giving anything at all....but still a present or even flowers I don%26#039;t think those are good. Flowers are quite meaningful to a girl...and more at that if its from an ex. It would mix things up too much. Just a sweet simple card wishing her a happy birthday and etc. would be nice and friendly-thoughtful. good luck!
Reply:If your trying to cut her off then No, don%26#039;t get her anything. Otherwise your just going to lead her on.

My boyfriend's grandmother passed away, should I send flowers?

We have been dating for 2 years, I have met his grandmother a couple of times and I am fairly close to his family, she was his father%26#039;s mother. I%26#039;m not sure if I should send flowers or a plant, and should I send it to his dad (who I know well) or his grandfather or to the funeral home when they have the service? What do you think ?

My boyfriend%26#039;s grandmother passed away, should I send flowers?
Give the flowers to them personally.. It will show you really care.
Reply:Send a plant to the funeral home in my opinion, then the grandfather can decide what ot do with it. I like to send plants because they last longer than just flower that a lot of times get left at the grave anyways.
Reply:Most guys would rather have a 12 pack and some time alone. Guys usually don%26#039;t like flowers, or glitter, or that kind of stuff. Just give your BF some time to hang out with the family and grieve. If he%26#039;s Irish, they%26#039;re prolly having a wake, so get Jameson instead of beer.
Reply:Funeral home would be appropiate usually the family shares the flowers after the funeral. Being there however maybe the best thing you could do.
Reply:Send a card to his parents and his grandfather, and ask the bf to go in with you to send flowers. It may seem wierd that her grandson%26#039;s girlfriend is sending flowers, plus it helps cut the cost for both of you. Be there for your bf, some guys don%26#039;t handle grief well, only talk about it if he wants to.

Also, some people ask for a donation in lieu of flowers. Check that out too.
Reply:for all of them but not to your boyfriend.with some words which describe your feelings .
Reply:uh flowers is a lil strangewen ur just a family friend

how bout a really nice card for the grandfather and a plant for the father

just makes more sense
Reply:Absolutely, I think that would be a nice gesture. I would send them %26quot;With Sympathy%26quot; to your bf%26#039;s grandfather.
Reply:send a nice plant to the grandfather. and to the funeral home.
Reply:I would send it to the funeral home. send a plant, and let the family decide who gets it.
Reply:i think it would be very nice to send a bunch of flowers to the funeral home so they could know that you send it and appreciate you more but it would also be very nice if you are with him and his family through this time
Reply:I think flowers would be fine in your case. But if you are in doubt, send a nice sympathy card through the mail or take over some food to the family. See if his family needs any errands run - picking up drycleaning, etc. Any thoughtful gesture will be appreciated.
Reply:Plants are nice. Send it to the funeral home - and then everyone in the family will know that you are paying your respects. Also - if you would like - it would be a nice gesture to bring some food (a casserole, a dessert - something) to the family%26#039;s home.
Reply:They would be glad if you did. You should send it to the funeral home.
Reply:Perhaps take a single white rose with you to lay on her grave when you go to the funeral.
Reply:I would send flowers to the grandfather
Reply:I would send the family flowers and then send a plant to the funeral home. Plants can last a very long time and it%26#039;s something more meaningful.
Reply:Either send flowers or send a donation in her memory to a church (if she was a church-goer) or a local charity %26amp; have them send a card to his grandfather letting him know what you%26#039;ve done.

Most people nowadays send donations in someone%26#039;s memory probably because the donations don%26#039;t die. My mother received so many plants (but fortunately more donations) that she ended up giving most of them away. They often go to hospitals or nursing homes.
Reply:Send some flowers to the funeral home.
Reply:Sure, flowers would be great. I%26#039;d address them to the grandfather, and maybe send a bouqet to BF%26#039;s father.

Sign the ones to grandfather from both your BF and yourself.

Sign the ones to BF%26#039;s dad either the same way, or from yourself.Have grandfather%26#039;s delivered, and deliver dad%26#039;s yourself.

Be sure to offer to help out any way you can. You are like family now and should pitch in during this time of stress and sorrow.

It%26#039;s nice of you to be concerned about this, your BF is a lucky guy.
Reply:YES, send flowers to the family and bake something and take it to them
Reply:flowers
Reply:Definitely send something - you%26#039;re close enough so that an acknowledgement is expected of you. Even the neighbors will send something, and you definitely are closer.

As for who to send it to, I%26#039;m thinking that if you%26#039;re making a choice, it%26#039;s your BF%26#039;s father and not the grandfather - but there%26#039;s really nothing wrong with sending to both of them. Yeah, I know it%26#039;s pricey, but (knock on wood) it doesn%26#039;t happen every day, and we%26#039;re talking about a 2-YEAR, not 2-month, relationship. You%26#039;ll feel better, too.

Sorry for your loss.
Reply:If you are that close and have been together that long, take some up to the funeral home with you as you pay your respects.
Reply:How very thoughtful of you.

If you send flowers, more than likely, these will either stay at the funeral home, or at the church where her services will be (not a bad thing, really, as churches don%26#039;t have a lot of money for buying flowers).

I personally really like the idea of sending a plant...it is a reminder that life continues. If you%26#039;re close to your bf%26#039;s dad, then I%26#039;d send it to him...I%26#039;m sure he needs comforting.

You might also consider sending a nice card to your bf%26#039;s grandfather, to let him know you%26#039;re thinking of him.
Reply:2 yrs and you%26#039;re close to his family? most definetely,..It wouldn%26#039;t be right if you didn%26#039;t..my condolences to your boyfriend and his family..from the heart..
Reply:Send a plant to the funeral home to him specifically and say %26quot;thinking about you and your family at this time%26quot; or something like that. Nothing mushy, just appropriately respectful.
Reply:Nice sympathy cards sent to the grandfather and your b/f family would be appropiate.

If you wish to send flowers, I suggest a small, easy to take care of plant sent to the grandfather%26#039;s house...since the plants will be pulled by family members anyway.
Reply:Certainly send something to her husband. He will appreciate your thoughtfulness. A card will do nicely.
Reply:Yes, you should send flowers/plant (I usually send plants). I would send it to the funeral home for the service. Usually after a funeral service, the funeral directors dispose of the flowers or leave them at the gravesite. But plants are generally taken home by family members to keep as remembrances of people%26#039;s kindness. By sending it to the funeral home, you leave the decision of who wants the plant to the family. If his family has met yours, send the plant from your family as a whole (ie Sincerest sympathy from The Smiths) and if they have only met you put your name alone. It will be much appreciated and show you to be a caring and well brought up young woman. Condolences to you and yours.
Reply:sweetie , you have been with your boyfriend 2 years. so, yes it would be very sweet to send flowers or a plant. if it were me, i would send them to the funeral home. after the funeral they can take the plants or flowers home. it%26#039;s a thoughtful and kind way to show your boyfriends family that you care. GBU and I%26#039;ll say a prayer for your boyfriend and his family.

Is asking a girl to formal (dance) with just flowers lame?!?

ok well i kinda have this thing for the girl i want to ask.

she%26#039;s in my class so i was just planning to ask her with flowers when everyone was watching while she would come in late but i dont know if thats lame since everyones doing these creative things now.

so can you give me some creative ideas to ask the girl to the dance? i know where she lives so that helps if you wanna incorporate that into the idea.

Is asking a girl to formal (dance) with just flowers lame?!?
Stick with the flowers. Maybe everyone is doing creative stuff now, but from my experience, most girls like the old fashioned simple stuff. Although, some girls might tell you different, it all depends on them.

If you think she would like the flowers though, just do it that way. I have seen many people give just flowers in front of class or what not and not have I once seen the girl say no. So I know it may seem to simple, but usually simple can be the best way to ask.
Reply:I always give girls flowers, I think they like it.
Reply:Get a skywriter to ask for you. Or parachute into her back yard. Build her a cake or something.
Reply:I like the flowers idea. It%26#039;s very romantic and old fashioned.
Reply:I think you should do something that appeals to her. Is she the type of girl who would enjoy a guitar solo you play for her? Is she the type of girl who likes attention? (wants you to ask in front of everyone). Or is she the quieter type who would enjoy flowers and a sweet book? Cater to what she%26#039;s interested in.

From there, asking her is the most romantic/cutest when you say things that come from the heart. %26quot;I thought you were so cute that first day you handed me your pink poofy pen%26quot; or whatever and then continue from there explaining what you like about her and what makes her special.
Reply:Since it is around the holidays you should get a little bag for giving gifts and print out FORMAL in capital letters down the paper with really big font so it takes up 2-3 pieces of paper and then by the F(ormal) O(our) R(ecklessness) M(ight) A(llow) L(ove). So the F,O,R,M,A,L are in really big letters, and everything in () in smaller letters and put it in the bag along with some flowers.
Reply:yes, i hate to break it to you but that is kind of lame, it%26#039;s sweet, but typical, and could be embarrassing to you, or her.... what i suggest is taking her to her favorite place for lunch, but before you do this go to www.jonessoda.com or what ever the jones soda website is, (you may want to google it) and they have this thing where you can personalize a soda bottle, you can take a picture and write something along with it, on it. take a picture of you holding a corsage, or flowers, and post it on the jones soda website, then personalize one that has the picture you took, and then have it say, %26quot;can i take this dance?%26quot; or, %26quot; Will you go to the _____ dance with me?%26quot; and give it too her! this would be so sweet, hard for her to say no, and something she would remember for the rest of her life... but if you take the pictures of you holding flowers, give her the flowers after she reads the bottle......i think its cheap, they give you a pack of 12..... trust me, im a girl around the same age! it would rock her world! if you do this let me know, and please tell me if you liked my advice
Reply:orchids are the best flowers to give her if you want to go through with that

and everyone else might be doing other things, but bringing her flowers would be different if no one else is doing it

just the fact that you asked is what counts

My wedding theme is butterflies. Can someone help me with types of flowers I should have and colors??

The colors I have chosen are Pink and Red but I don%26#039;t think they go well with butterflies. The wedding is in June. And I would also like to incorporate the flowers with butterflies as well so a little help on that too. So what types of flowers are butterflies attracked too?

My wedding theme is butterflies. Can someone help me with types of flowers I should have and colors??
Orchids and calla lillies would be a wonderful choice for flowers. You could have the white orchids with the specks of red and pick in the center. (watch the movie 40 days and 40 nights these flowers are on that movie and you wont miss them. They are very light and fluttery. You can look at different ones online just type in orchids in a search engine and it will bring up tones of pictures. Calla lillies are also a good choices. These flowers are very fragrant and will help be a good filler if you choice to use orchids. If you would like to see examples of flower arrangement or bouquet%26#039;s go to www.theknot.com, or www.theweddingchannel.com. As far as the colors go pink is a great color and so is red. I would pick one of them for your main color and us the other to accent with. Like have pink for your bridesmaid dress but then have white orchids and red lillies for your bouquet%26#039;s. Good luck. Those websites i gave you helped me a lot.
Reply:white roses
Reply:I think you should keep it simple since butterflies are never any one color. I think pastel pink and white are good ideas for colors. In the flower ctagory you may want to go with something like tulips, again simplicity is key since you have chosen butterflies as your theme. Hope this helps!
Reply:and your husband to be is ok with that? (butterflies??)

Reply:im getting married in 2 weeks. i know when choose my fall colors, i had a hard time !!! the june wedding sounds so pretty as my g/f is doing a june wedding as well.. i would go to a florist and ask her opinion. they have so so many ideas!!! june flowers are all about color!! mix em up!! the colors you have choosen are fine.... have fun with the planning!!
Reply:It%26#039;s not just a matter of colour to attract butterflies, but what the flowers produce - nectar. See links below for more info.

You don%26#039;t mention if you plan to do a live butterfly release, but I urge you not to do it. Generally 10% of the butterflies arrive dead and I would be mortified as a guest or as a bride to have dead butterflies as part of a wedding. Seems not only cruel, but like a bad omen. Stick to attracting wild ones and using fake ones, and have a great wedding! : )
Reply:the choice of flowers would be yours. I would suggest golden yellow, sapphire blue and white would go great with butterflies.

They have a lot of themes, suggestions, ideas and everything you can think of. As well as venders, it as well helps you plan your wedding

Reply:I have a friend that is getting married in a few months and her colors are purple, (lavendar) white, and grey..... I am making her flower arrangements and I put butterflies in her center pieces and because she is having it out doors I put some on her tree wrap also. The final decision is yours but I have gotten nothing but great compliments on the center pieces thus far. Good luck and congrates!!!!
Reply:Butterflies are attracted to bright colors. Red and pinks are fine. Use whatever is in season in your colors, and you will keep your costs down. You may even incorporate silk butterflies in your bouquets and centerpieces...... You can order live butterflies to release as you leave the church. They come in boxes, and you open the boxes and they fly off. I have seen it, and it is beautiful. I think you can order them on line.........

Is it to soon to give a girl flowers on the second date?

I am going on a second date with a girl that I%26#039;m very interested in. She seems to be very interested in me as well. Is it okay for me to give her flowers on the second date or is that too early?

Is it to soon to give a girl flowers on the second date?
no, not too early!! but if you feel nervous about it, you can just get her a single bloom. i always think a single flower is a really sweet gesture. i wish men realized that a little surprise like that a little bit more often is worth more than the bouquet on valentine%26#039;s day/birthdays to a lady%26#039;s heart.
Reply:My date gave me roses on the first date, so it%26#039;s not too soon at all. Report It

Reply:that is so sweettttt =)

ofcourse you can give her flowers!!

best of luck!
Reply:go for a single long steamed rose. nothing says romance like that. besides, it will be more affordable and there%26#039;s no WAY that it will go over the top.
Reply:No, you should get her on the first date, with more flowers she like, you should be more romantic than anyone.
Reply:aww thats not too soon tahts rele sweet and thoughtful shed b crazee if she didnt like u
Reply:Its really too early its overkill. Give it time.
Reply:No, just a simple bouquet would be beautiful. Don%26#039;t go all out on a huge bouquet, but a simple one lets her know you%26#039;re interested and you made extra effort to impress her.
Reply:no deff. not....its really sweet...she%26#039;ll love it.
Reply:nooo, it%26#039;s cute
Reply:I think that it is cute. But dont go overboard. Just give her like one flower but, a pretty one, like her favorite. And if she didnt tell you it then just give her a rose because it is simple but, still cute.
Reply:Flowers-- never too soon and never too late

And they don%26#039;t have to be expensive either----Inexpensive flowers often will do you more good than 100 dollars worth of roses when you%26#039;re in trouble......
Reply:No, she will be very happy that you are being so sweet about it, it shows her that you are very interested in her, go for it!

Why does salt prolong the life of cut flowers the longest?

according to my school science project experimant

salt prolongs the life of cut flowers the longest.

what i did was us cut daisies and place them in vases w/ each of these solutions:

salt water

distilled water

vinegar

sprite

sugar water

and no water

the first on to die was the one with vinegar

the sugar on was like the third to die

and it produced some odd small black bumps

=|

wat was that?%26gt;

well what im trying to figure out is why did sugar prolong the life of a cut daisy the longest?

i need details

Why does salt prolong the life of cut flowers the longest?
I%26#039;m confused, did sugar prolong the life of the cut flower the longest or was it the 3rd to die? I’m guessing by the title that the salt prolonged the most.

I’m not certain on details, or what exactly happened in each case of your experiment, but cut plants will die mostly because of lack of water. Of course vinegar being an acid is expected to be the harshest on the plants. It could also have dehydrated the plants by osmosis.

The small bumps formed in your sugar water are probably some sort of mold or fungi. Water with sugar is very favorable condition for a lot of microorganisms to grow. Mold, fungi or deteriorated leaves will block the pores in the stem that pull the water to the flower and cause it to die for lack of water.

The salt in the other hand might inhibit mold, fungi and even bacterial formation, minimizing that problem. Salt might also have minerals that the plants needs.

I would guess the ideal solution is sugar (because it also feeds the flower) and something to prevent bacterial/mold growth would be most favorable to the plant. Maybe even sugar and salt together. I also heard crushed aspirin or a small amount of mouthwash with sugar is the best for cut flowers. But the concentration of sugar and whatever else you add to the water has to be low because of the osmotic equilibrium. Plants require environment with lower osmotic pressure than the cells. Plant cell walls will prevent cells from expanding to the point of bursting so even distilled water would be good for them.

However to make cut flowers last you need more than the right solution. Air bubbles can also be formed when you cut the stem and block the pores. That’s why florists recommend cutting flowers under water. Another recommendation is to never have leaves immersed in the water to avoid the deterioration.

I would be very curious to know what the full result of your experiment was. I would guess sprite can’t be good for flowers. No water sometimes makes flowers die without wilting which makes it hard to define when exactly it is dead. I’m also curious why you didn’t use regular water to compare to distilled water. I would be very curious to know that.
Reply:it most like wasn%26#039;t the just the sugar that maintained the flower, but its concentration in the water. the solute concentration (sugar) in the water was probably equal, or close to equal, to the solute concentration in the cells of the flower. this would establish an osmotic equilibrium that satisfied the maintainance of the cells for an extended period of time. you%26#039;ll want to try repeating this experiment with varying concentrations of sugar for each flower. the same is true for all of the solutions you used: vinegar, which contains no water would have drained the flower of water. the solutions that contained water would easily have lasted longer than the vinegar by the same principle that a kind of temporary osmotic equilibrium would be established allowing those flowers to live longer

She didn't respond after I sent her flowers?

ok i really like the girl who cuts my hair . she is awesome and always says we should have a drink sometime.. we have great conversations and she spends like an hour and a half doing my hair . witch she could do in 25 mins..everytime i say ;well how about that drink .she says next time for sure..I sent her flowers cause she was complaining about the stress in her life and I thought i would try and cheer her up...she never called and said anything or text ..whats the deal with that she has my # cause she has called me before and asked me question and talked about stuff..what does her not responding mean and what should i do?

She didn%26#039;t respond after I sent her flowers?
It sounds like she probably just has a lot of stress in her life right now , she even told you that. If i where you i would just wait it out im sure she appreciated the flowers and it sounds like she is interested in you .. but if she is going throught alot of stress maybe she hasnt got the time to get back to you yet

i hope it all works out :)
Reply:Go on for your hair cut and ask her if she got the flowers. Who knows what could have happened. Don%26#039;t assume she got them.
Reply:Sounds like you like her but she%26#039;s just after a good tip.
Reply:First of all....how RUDE! It was very nice of you to get her flowers. If she doesn%26#039;t respond you should forget about her and move on to someone else who is capable of common sense and decency.

Best of luck to you, you sound like a nice guy!
Reply:It means lack of manners because she clearly likes you. Or maybe she didn%26#039;t get them? Or maybe it wasn%26#039;t clear that the flowers were from you? Wait till your next haircut appointment.

Guys why do you insist in giving girls flowers....??

not all girls like them of cours im just speaking for myself id prefer plants if thats the case flowers creep me out plus they die plants well at least you could grow them and keep them alive any way just my opinion i guess

Guys why do you insist in giving girls flowers....??
never give flowers...if you%26#039;re gonna give something, make it thoughtful not generic...for instance you say you like plants, I%26#039;d give you a coleus because they keep very easily inside or out, they%26#039;re very pretty and will last forever if treated right
Reply:Sorry but i prefer giving flowers. I am nuts about giving roses!!! It%26#039;s my way of showing a woman how much I respect her. No different than opening a door for her, serving her a drink, making her dinner, or giving her a neck and shoulder massage.
Reply:A case of beer, perhaps?......
Reply:Will a six-pack of tecate suffice?
Reply:I would rather get shoes.
Reply:i give diamonds
Reply:I want to be friends with KINGPIN22!!!

I don%26#039;t like flowers either. I adore diamonds.

King, hurry!!
Reply:cuz the first time we don%26#039;t you%26#039;ll get mad and we ain%26#039;t getting any.
Reply:im with you, plants they last longer we have close to 200 but i still like to get my wife sunflowers once in a while*!*
Reply:most women love them
Reply:I never insist in giving anything that is not welcome to anyone...
Reply:...I like plants better too, flowers are nice but they die like in 2 days...I would rather have a potted plant in a nice pot...
Reply:I like KINGPIN answer.
Reply:So, by your logic, you would prefer if I showed up at your door holding a small maple tree?
Reply:it is pretty old fashioned come to think of it. someone on here said getting diamonds...why in the world would you do that....if you have to impress a girl that way then you have nothing to offer. The girl would expect you to give diamonds all the time. I rather go out to a nice place and have some drinks along with some good food.
Reply:I prefer to give choclates that way I get to eat half! :)
Reply:I heard of this woman who once asked her husband why he never gave her flowers. He said %26quot;Whats the point? They%26#039;ll just die in a week.%26quot; And she said %26quot;So could you but I still like having you around!%26quot;
Reply:i used to say i didn%26#039;t really like to get flowers either til i started getting them, then i liked it... i mean that is the flowers purpose in life, to look pretty, it%26#039;s gonna die anyway no matter what, with the changing seasons, so enjoy the flower while it%26#039;s here, let it fulfill it%26#039;s purpose, and they%26#039;re pretty and smell pretty, I%26#039;ll go out to the lilac bush we have and cut some to bring into the house just for the scent, since i have no one to get me flowers now :(

Would it be a bit premature to bring flowers on my first date with a girl i just met at the dc.?

i met her at the dc of my college a week ago we were sitting next to each other and we started talking and it lasted for hours she flirted with me the whole time. i just dont feel i know her well enough to show her i like her that much i think i may feel a bit better bringing flowers the second date. would you agree with me or do you think i should bring them the first date as it may melt her

Would it be a bit premature to bring flowers on my first date with a girl i just met at the dc.?
Yes, that%26#039;s cute, but make it a small posy of flowers, then shes not embarrassed.
Reply:I just had a first date and brought the girl a half dozen red roses. My friends think that was lame, but i thought it was classy, and she seemed to really like them.

They look great without the outlining so don%26#039;t worry about that. Re do the one with the outlining so it%26#039;ll all match up.
Reply:Really cool idea. I like the way they look how they are, I think you should add more flowers tho and maybe put some texture in the tree like some darker browns for bark
Reply:I don%26#039;t like the black around the flower it makes it not look to real, love the flowers and color combinations. The two birds are cute. :D

How do I cut back my Peace Lily flowers?

My fairly new plant is doing well and has plenty of flowers but some of them have turned pale green should I cut them off?

How do I cut back my Peace Lily flowers?
Cut the stem as close to the leaf as possible. By cutting off the flower, your plant will not only look healthy, it will encourage new growth. Make sure the plant doesn%26#039;t get direct sunlight with it being on the window sill. Below is a picture of a peace lily plant.

Reply:Use very sharp scissors or a Very sharp Knife
Reply:yes, you can cut them back. I have one that I have had for 12 years and it blooms and then dies back...you can cut them off dead or half dead, it don%26#039;t matter. I just use a scissor.
Reply:I don%26#039;t know but if you have a rabbit keep it well away because peace lillies are poisonous to rabbits

When would be better/more appropriate to send flowers to this girl?

Well I already asked this last night, but I figure I%26#039;d try again in a different section just to get more opinions.

Ok, in my previous question I asked about 2 weeks ago, I explained my situation. Here%26#039;s the link: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

After thinking about this , I was wondering if I should just send the flowers out this week or wait until Valentines Day. Would it be %26quot;cuter%26quot; to send them on a random day or on V-day. Any suggestions? Reason for your suggestion? I really don%26#039;t want to creep her out lol.

Thanks. This is really important to me and a big %26quot;risk%26quot; for me, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

When would be better/more appropriate to send flowers to this girl?
i think there%26#039;s no reason waiting for any occasions like v-day, to show ur interest to smb. u like, just send her gorgeous flowers, i am sure she%26#039;ll appreciate ur gesture!
Reply:if you wait you may miss out, so send them today and give her more on vday
Reply:The link didnt work that explained the situation.

Without knowing the situation, if you dont want to creep her out... then send something small on a random day. Over doing things is what got me in trouble in the past. Sweet and simple is a safe way to go.
Reply:wait till valentine%26#039;s day cuz it will mean more and seem alot sweeter
Reply:send them now.... then if everything goes well plan something romantic for her on vday
Reply:send it now..you have a while to go til vday.
Reply:yes it would be really sweet

Is it ok that I sent this girl flowers. just want to make her smile?

I hung out with her twice which was a few months ago. We really got along well, but I didn%26#039;t try to keep in touch and she%26#039;s shy, so she didn%26#039;t either. A few nights ago I saw her at a party and forgot her name. She seemed to get mad because of it. Anyway, I realized that night that I really liked her. I asked her for her number to catch up to which she replied %26quot;We only hung out twice, lol, you%26#039;re very interesting.%26quot; She didn%26#039;t give me the number, but anyway, she%26#039;s going through a tough time right now, her friend is in the hospital and I sent her a bouquet of flowers (not roses) and said on the card %26quot;smile, kassi%26quot; and i put %26quot;from the guy who is very sorry he forgot your name%26quot; to cheer her up. I just want to make her smile. Is it ok that I did this, or is because we don%26#039;t know each other that well it a bad move??

Is it ok that I sent this girl flowers. just want to make her smile?

I want to start a garden but don't know what flowers to use?

I only have a relatively small space to plant my garden... maybe 9 by 3 ft. I want either an English cottage theme or a Netherlands theme with tulips and such. What flowers would go well with these themes? What flowers could I pair with tulips?

I want to start a garden but don%26#039;t know what flowers to use?
Flower Garden Care is good web site that has gardening tips.
Reply:Pansies for the spring. For the summer, I like geraniums with verbena.
Reply:It would help to know how much sun the area gets and what zone you are in. You would want to plant tulips to grow in the spring along with daffodils. These bloom for a very short time. When they fade you can plant summer annuals that will give you color for the rest of the summer, depending upon the sun in your garden.
Reply:Go to a library and check out some books on what flowers do well in your area---having not one clue to where you live I can%26#039;t answer your question. They will also have books on design and planting etc. Good luck.
Reply:well, grow some annuals first that is easy for care. for example: those short flowers and easy for care. or get some perennial bulbs like tulips or lily or iris those are easy to plant, easy to grow, and blooms every year! once you get the experence with flowers , then you get some perennial seeds. and start indoor for the best result. then you dont have to plant new flowers every year! hope this helps!

What Color Bridesmaid Dresses Would Go With These Flowers?

for my wedding, i%26#039;m thinking about having flowers like these:

http://antiqueangelchapel.com/bouquets/p...

http://www.links2love.com/love/romance/w...

what color bridesmaids would go well with them?

What Color Bridesmaid Dresses Would Go With These Flowers?
Light pink or Light Yellow.
Reply:I hadn%26#039;t thought about that color of green, but once I saw it, and especially with that color sash on there, I think it would look perfect! The more lavender lillies are in the brides bouquet , right? That shade maybe a little dark if you were thinking of those for the bridesmades bouquets. But these lillies come in a huge range of colors and sized. I%26#039;d stick with the paler pink lillies for that green bridesmades dress tho.. not all lillies, a mixture of stuff, white, maybe some yellow, some green thats close to your color dress.

Sound beautiful!
Reply:First of all the flowers are gorgeous as well as that dress! I would say that would be a beautiful match! The pink belt goes with the flowers. I love that dress!!

It%26#039;s kind of different compared to the weddings that I have been in and been to. Very very pretty.

Congrats and good luck to you!!
Reply:I think that if you had a light or pale pink they would look really nice. You could also try a complimentary color, maybe a dark orange (think sunset colors, that%26#039;s what those lilies always remind me of!).

Personally I think everything goes with pink (haha) but I think those might be good starting points. But if you have a favorite color that you were thinking of, I know that you can find Asiatic lilies in almost every color.

I hope that helped! Best wishes and good luck in your planning!
Reply:Those green dresses with the pink sashes would look beautiful with those bouquets. And I can tell you from personal experience times two that Alfred Angelo makes the absolute nicest, most flattering, and comfortable dresses for bridesmaids in the market.
Reply:Black, gray, medium to darker shades of blue, or medium to dark green.
Reply:yes, I think the dress will go with the flowers just fine. good luck
Reply:I think pink or yellow is your best bet.
Reply:I thnk any pastel color would look great with those. I think light yellow would really bring them out!
Reply:Sage green would go really well with Star Gazers. However, those lilys smell horrible and are really really bad for anyone who has the slightest allergies.
Reply:i don%26#039;t think the green would %26quot;flatter%26quot; the flowers. i would go with a light pink with the darker pink ribbon
Reply:that looks nice with those flowers. I am having a wine (maroon ) dress and green orchids, so contrast is good too.
Reply:i think a nice light mint green or black
Reply:You have perfect taste - gorgeous combination. I say GO WITH IT!!
Reply:Like the dress, pink would go. Yellow
Reply:Hi and congratulations!

Yes, that dress would work perfect with those flowers! I love green and pink together. It is a very nice color combination.

Good luck!
Reply:caitlyn i love the flowers but maigen_o has a point about the flowers, they don%26#039;t smell very nice and they stain. however i do think the lighter pink will work beautifully with the dress you have chosen! so keep the colour and switch over to a different flower, perhaps pink roses with a mix of spring flowers which would be very pretty! the dress is very pretty, dainty and romantic looking with the pink sash and a bit of pink peeking out from the hem. i would keep the green for the dress as it is so fresh and youthful looking!

you have great taste! good luck and sweetie have a very happy wedding!
Reply:I don%26#039;t think the mint green dress in the picture you showed will work with those flowers - the pink in them is too bright. I would get lime green, light pink or light yellow dresses.
Reply:I am going for a green and pink theme myself for a spring - May wedding. However I personally feel that the strong look of the flowers doesn%26#039;t suit the preppy look of the dress. Maybe its just the bow and the frills. I Would go with a soft pink or a green - but sure you%26#039;ll be set on the green like me!

Try the link below - I feel the strong look of the aria dress would suit and a similar style to the one you have chose, theres also one the same as your bridesmaid choice without the bow or underskirt frill and feel it would be more contemporary - remember less is more especially if your maids are also carrying Lillie%26#039;s

Hope this helps. I agree Pink and Green looks great!!!

Good Luck x p.s lillies are lovely, they dont stink, its personally preference and you can remove the stamens so they dont stain!
Reply:I would say it all depends on what month you are getting married. If it is in the winter, black dresses would like nice. I have seen beautiful black bridesmaid dresses that have a thin colored ribbon around the waist. If it is in the spring or summer, fushia or lime green would look really pretty.
Reply:top-fuschia or pale green

bottom-an eggplant or plum color
Reply:Navy blue dresses would allow the flowers to pop.
Reply:i think you should go with pale pink, purple, or maybe even a light blue. The bow on the green dress is really the only thing that helps it. Good luck and congrats!
Reply:Maybe I have no fashion sense, because I think white tulips would look smashing with the dress you picked out.

You have so much color in the flowers and the dresses a soft whited would look elegant.

Good luck with you wedding.
Reply:Green would be a lovely contrast. I know some people would say %26quot;eww%26quot;, but a chocolate brown dress with a sash matching the color of the lillies would be pretty... but very fall themed.
Reply:I love the dress you choose with the flowers! Are you planning on having the first stargazer lilly bouquet for the girls and the 2nd stargazer and combo flowers for yourself, because those would compliment each other perfectly.

You could also have pink and white rannuculis added to the girls bouquets to soften them up just a touch and it would compliment yours even better!!! I love those dresses! :)
Reply:I like it a lot but I think it would have to be a spring or a summer wedding. I wouldn%26#039;t go with anything pink because the colors with the flowers would clash. I think that the green is perfect and the dress is elegant and tasteful although a bit casual. Might not be fancy enough for an evening wedding.
Reply:Na-ah! Not that green dress...

sure you can have green but the belt would have to be a hotter shade of pink

personally I would have white with a magenta belt... or just magenta dresses in really light material so it wont be too bulky
Reply:For the first bouquet I think fuchsia dresses would look great with them, and for the second one I think lavender. Silver will look good with both. Hope this helps.
Reply:That dress looks good. I found some more dresses that would match.

Is it ok that I sent this girl flowers?

I only hung out with this girl twice through another friend and we got along really well. She seemed like she liked me. After that we fell out of touch. I met her again a party the other night and I was drunk. I forgot her name and she seemed to get upset about it. I remembered it later. Anyway, I realized I liked her that night. She%26#039;s going through a rough time because her friend is in the hospital. Today I sent her a bouqet of flowers (not roses) to cheer her up. I wrote on the card, %26quot;Smile, Kassi..%26quot; %26quot;From the guy who%26#039;s very sorry he forgot your name.%26quot; They should%26#039;ve delivered them hours ago. We didn%26#039;t know each other that well, was it a bad idea that I sent them? We have no means of contacting each other except by Myspace right now and I guess I thought she%26#039;s get on and send me a message or something, but she hasn%26#039;t. I%26#039;m concerned that maybe I freaked her out or something. What do you think?

Is it ok that I sent this girl flowers?
Okay, first of all, calm down...you%26#039;re kind of freaking out.

Maybe she just hasn%26#039;t gotten home yet and hasn%26#039;t had a chance to see the flowers. Maybe something went wrong with the delivery. You never know, there are plent of rational reasons the flowers haven%26#039;t gotten to her yet.

STILL...

You still have to prepare yourself for the fact that maybe, god forbid, she%26#039;s just not interested. It happens unfortunately.

Worrying about whether it was a bad idea or not to send the flowers is now irrelevant. What%26#039;s done is done. For now all you can do is keep your hopes up and brace yourself for possible rejection. Good luck man.
Reply:I think it is ok to send the girl the flowers the will be very appricated of it.

I think sending her flowers was a very gentlemanly thing to do. I would not get my undies in a bundle over it. You will hear from her in time. Just know you made her smile.
Reply:It is never wrong to send anyone flowers. It shows you care and I think that was a very good thing you did. If she has any class at all she will at least contact you and thank you for the flowers. If not, at least you know you tried to apologize in a very nice way.
Reply:She%26#039;s just a little upset and mad with u. U did the right thing. If u like her try to rebuild ur relationship but stronger. Hang out with her more often and apologise to her.
Reply:It%26#039;s actually very sweet.....but don%26#039;t expect some quick response. She probably has things on her mind like her sick friend. Just give it time...I%26#039;m sure you%26#039;ll find her out somewhere again and then you will be able to talk to her. Don%26#039;t over think it....she understands you%26#039;re sorry....Just talk to her when you run into her again......Just make sure not to forget her name!
Reply:Thats very cute, did u send the flowers as an apology or because you like her? Thats a huge difference in a girls eyes. If she isnt calling u then u know ur answer.
Reply:I think that is very sweet of you to send her flowers, especially since she is going through some tough times. Maybe she just didn%26#039;t get a chance to thank you yet. I wouldn%26#039;t worry about it too much. If she doesn%26#039;t respond then at least you tried and you can move on.

Is it wrong to want your husband to send you flowers or anything at all...?

My husband and I married in January 08 and in March he deployed for a year. We dated for almost a year before we got married and he got me flowers the 2nd week we started dating. Nothing in this relationship has been conventional at all...I take care of his 5yr old daughter full time as well as my 5yr old daughter and 4yr old son. I have just noticed this mothers day when my gift was a nightie set, that he justified as a mothers day gift/miss you/on sale online. What brought this ? on is that i just recieved calls/text from other guys in the unit wanting to send get well flowers to one of the gal%26#039;s from the unit here who is like a sister to everyone. The guys have lots of downtime before they go overseas and I get phone calls from my husband almost daily and he tells me all the cool stuff they all do, and here i am..putting up with **** from his ex,paying off his bills from years ago and taking care of a home and 3 kids full time and working...Am I being selfish here?

Is it wrong to want your husband to send you flowers or anything at all...?
no...but... he should send you them without you asking..
Reply:No, it is not wrong to want that stuff. You are going to want to have a talk with him and let him know how you feel. Contrary to popular belief, men can%26#039;t read your mind. When he is back in the States, I recommend some marriage counseling to get you two started off on the right foot again! Good luck!
Reply:No your just like every other military wife and like most of the others once he is home full time and he doesn%26#039;t change you will be divorced and he will find his next ex-wife.Good luck
Reply:I didn%26#039;t understand anything you wrote.

He got you a nightie for mother%26#039;s day but you really wanted flowers so you are upset?

And you%26#039;re jealous that a girl who is obviously sick is getting flowers and you aren%26#039;t?

I really don%26#039;t understand. Sure he has downtime but do you think its easy being overseas in Iraq away from the people you love fighting a dumb *** war? No.

Put it this way...all he wants is a supportive wife at home and instead he gets a wife that is crying over flowers. Is that fair?
Reply:its probably not really even flowers you are seeking but i little appreciation for what you are going through at home.. some recognition of your dedication and sure flowers would be nice but what you really want is some validation from your husband that your doing a great job and he couldn%26#039;t do it with out you.... ..
Reply:guys are not mind readers, let him know how you feel, plus the party%26#039;s over, you got married, he feels he doesnt have to win you over already, call him up and tell him it would be nice to receive flowers once in a while, cause he doesnt have a clue about how you feel
Reply:It is your right to feel however you want, but it is never a good thing to set expectations for anyone other than yourself, you will contiunally be disappointed, as I am hearing in your note. The only thing you can do is tell him what you want or need and how you are feeling. And do not compare his first marriage/wife to yours, it is never ever a good thing to do. You must remember that everyone is not like you and doesn%26#039;t think like you, so you can%26#039;t expect him to do the things you do. Be grateful that he sent you something, lower your expectations now or you are going to live a life of disappointment.

Why is it that everyone always says to give her flowers and chocolates?

I want to do something UNIQUE and ORIGINAL for my girlfriend. I don%26#039;t like doing the typical cliche stereotype whatever thing, because she is expecting that. It feels weird to go the standard way for me, because it is nothing special. Well, it is, but, not AS memorable...

So..... who can tell me the best way to show love to a girl or to apologize WITHOUT using chocolates and flowers? My girlfriend doesn%26#039;t like gifts much. I%26#039;ve given her chocolates and stuff, but she%26#039;s not that type.

Give me a real story that happened to you or somebody you know. Or your best idea.

10 points to the best story/idea!!!

oh yeah, and don%26#039;t forget to tell me why girls want flowers! if you know

THANK YOU !! I APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT!

Why is it that everyone always says to give her flowers and chocolates?
well my boyfriend doesnt really like the gifts i buy him either....so i try and make things for him that i know he%26#039;ll like....i know it sounds kinda corny but its true. example: hes loves art (not very good at it himself, but ya know lol) and im a very artistic person and he loves all my pieces of artwork. so for his birthday last year i painted him a picture of a red snapdragon (a flower) and he just fell in love with it. it was something inexpensive for me and it also was something that came from the heart. so get/make her something that you know she%26#039;ll love....whether its art, a new soccer ball, a remix cd of her favorite bands....hope this helps
Reply:Why not cook her dinner?!

btw Flowers and candy is viewed as a classic and caring gift.
Reply:Ya%26#039;,then she gets all fat from all that candy

and they get mad at her for it!!! What a set

up that really can backfire!!!!

The best way I know is to take her to a very

romatic place like a lovely garden and have

a pic-nic with you and a mini cd player and

spread out a blanket and talk to her while it%26#039;s

a cool,but not chilly star-lit night!!!

So romantic and so thoughtful at the same time.

Pick her one of the prettiest flowers while you

are there.
Reply:Woman loved being pampered...........flowers are a thing of beauty, just like the woman you are giving them to.So give them to her wearing a gorilla suit..........show you have character
Reply:Why not create a memory album of your relationship .. place poems, thoughts and pictures into it.

I really don%26#039;t know your age so I don%26#039;t know what would be appropiate for you and your girlfriend. But you of all people should know what would be best and what she would like.

How much money are you willing to spend? Are you over 18? Is she over 18?

Where do you get Transparent Lockets for Flowers?

Hello, where do you get cheap clear or transparent lockets for things like pictures or small dried flowers? Anything from a necklace to keychain would work well. Thank You

Where do you get Transparent Lockets for Flowers?
Most of the craft shops do sell them, ask in the shop because they might be hidden somewhere.

I did get my first from an origami supplier.

Photo shops sometimes also carry them, because of the passport size photos that also fit.

Is it creepy to give a girl flowers after only one date?

Basically the flowers would be accompanied by a good luck on your AP test and get well soon kind of thing. I personally think it%26#039;s kind of creepy but my friends say I should do it.

Is it creepy to give a girl flowers after only one date?
Go with your instincts, your probably right this time around. Try a different approach for the good luck test stuff.
Reply:Bro don%26#039;t do it....that is so wussy. When you are doing that, here is what she is thinking. She isn%26#039;t going to think that is sweet. She is going to think %26#039;Wow, it%26#039;s only been one date and he is giving me flowers, I suppose he thinks he isn%26#039;t good enough for me the way he is, so he%26#039;s gonna try to buy me off with gifts. Well, I suppose he will make a good friend. Hopefully I can find a real man soon who knows how to please me%26#039; That is what she is thinking deep down, so do not, DO NOT DO IT! In fact don%26#039;t even take her out to dinner till the fourth date, buying her things = bad and reeks of needy wussy behaviour. It would be better if you two did something creative on a first date like went iceskating or played miniature golf, or even she came to your place and you two just hung out. Your friend knows nothing about attracting women by the way don%26#039;t listen to him anymore.
Reply:amateur move. and it is kind of creepy. flowers after only one date is a little much. even if it%26#039;s just one, or a small bouquet. if you know anything about her, surprise her with something that she likes. a favorite candy of hers with a note saying something like %26quot;hopefully this will help you concentrate. it%26#039;s loaded with (something in the candy) and tons of luck%26quot;

when i went on my first date with my current gf, i brought her a bag filled with swedish fish and pink starburst. a year and 8 months later, she still brings it up. good luck.
Reply:well i would give one white rose after the first date. that means the starting of a friendship/relationship. someone did that for my cousin a few months ago after a first date and they are getting married in october... i know you probably arent thinking about that but they%26#039;re like 25 and im just saying it works. just set it on her desk or something. that would be super romantic. as a girl i would love that.
Reply:i am a guy so you might want to go with the opposite thing that i say. :) I would do it, i think just a good luck on the AP thing would be sweet and she would think it was considerate of you. just my opinion though.
Reply:It depends one what kind of people you are. If you AND her are into creative stuff it%26#039;s really sweet ( to the girl) but if the girls a preppy b then it would be creepy, pick a down to earth girl to give flowers to
Reply:That%26#039;s a sweet and caring gesture to a girl. I don%26#039;t find that creepy one bit, it%26#039;s sweet and it shows that you care about how without going too out of your way. :)

What else can I do for my flowers?

I have several potted plants as well as hanging plants. What can I do to make these plants grow faster? I put a Miracle Grow stick in each of them, and I water them every day, so is there anything else I could do to make these plants grow faster? I%26#039;ve heard used coffee grounds works, tea grinds, things like that are great for flowers. Anything else you can think of?

By the way, I have petunas, snap dragons, pansys, things like that in my pots.

What else can I do for my flowers?
I have used all the products mentioned: Liquid Miracle grow, fish emulsions, worm castings, chicken manure and they all work very well with time BUT the most important part is cutting back the dead blooms and ridding your pots of weeds and pests. If you pinch off new grow it encourages it to spread. Good luck
Reply:My dad swears by fish guts, he says that whatever you have left after you clean a fish throw in the garden. Bones, scales, guts and all. He can make anything grow so I believe him.
Reply:You%26#039;re in luck. I happen to have had the same problem with snap dragons. (I don%26#039;t know about the other ones.) Try to get some worm castings. They are so thoroughly saturated with nutrients, you may just compete with good old Jack and his beans. I%26#039;m assuming you are currently using potting soil. That also works really well if you have the good stuff. Worm castings are about the same price as topsoil, so it%26#039;s not gonna run you into a second mortgage. You can call 1-800-TOPSOIL or check out www.1800TOPSOIL.com to see if they have a member in your area. In my experience, their members have always been reputable and honest. The point is worm castings did the trick. Hope I was able to help!
Reply:Coffee and tea is dependent on whether or not the plants like acidity; a diluted solution of liquid is better than the grounds. Miracle Grow sticks don%26#039;t work as well as liquid, they don%26#039;t stay wet long enough to saturate the soil. You may also try adding some fish emulsion. It stinks to high-heaven, but it works great. Also, they may be rootbound; try repotting them. Look at their light requirement...are they getting what they need?
Reply:Try not to force your plants too much or they will have an early bloom and lose it quickly. You are doing the correct thing with the fertiliser, just try not to over water though. One thing you could do is give them more direct sunlight.

I am looking for a tatoo with flowers and someting meaning child or son can you help?

I want a tatoo. Not sure exactly what I want or how I want it. I need some ideas so please help me. I have an 6mo little boy and want something meaning child or son. I could even use his name if I found something I liked well enough to put it in there. I want flowers around it but am not sure what kind. If you have any ideas that could help send them my way please.

Thanks

I am looking for a tatoo with flowers and someting meaning child or son can you help?
Well dear u want to represent ur son throuh flower . Well sunflower is considred as male .Dont u see that they use sun ,round and a baby%26#039;s smiling face inside (like sunflower). So if u want to tell that u hav a son, tatooo a sunflower (and a smiling face of a baby inside the circle). It is being used in Cartoons. The other Idea is to tatooo a big rose and put a small baby (or whatsoever) sleeping on(in) it. If u want me to make some cool sketches to show how will it look like then u can email me. I%26#039;ll surely do some artistic work to sketch some cool looking tatooooooooos!
Reply:Aren%26#039;t you a little old to be getting tattoos?

You should consider a gold charm with his/her name engraved on it and throw it on a necklace. My pops did it and I appreciate it much more than if he%26#039;d run out and got inked up after I was born... lol
Reply:just get a tatoo of chuck norris
Reply:What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.
Reply:All I can suggest is going to the tattoo shop and asking them if they have anything that means son or child. They will probably have a Chinese symbol or something.

Should I call her before Valentine's Day (I sent flowers to arrive Wed)?

Last Thursday I went on a date with a woman I feel strongly for. Things went well and we planned to meet again for dinner. We last had contact on Friday night and she said she would call soon when she could speak. I have not yet heard anything. After consulting with friends and the advice of this board, I decided to be bold and send her flowers for V-Day to her office, which should arrive Wed. morning.

In the attached card, I wish her happy Valentine%26#039;s Day and ask if she wants to meet for dinner that night. Should I give her a ring tonight/tomorrow night (ask about how she is, how her weekend went or even invite her to dinner)? Or, would it be best to wait for the flowers to arrive and see if she calls me? I think this will also help answer how she feels about me. I think asking her to dinner ahead of time may put her on the spot, especially if she is already busy.

Regardless, if I do not hear by Wed. evening, I plan to call her to wish her Happy Valentine%26#039;s Day. Any thoughts?

Should I call her before Valentine%26#039;s Day (I sent flowers to arrive Wed)?
No. Stop it. You%26#039;re being weird. One date and you sent flowers to her office? Too much. She SAID she%26#039;d call you. Let her call if she%26#039;s interested. You%26#039;ve already put her on the spot and now she%26#039;s obligated to respond to flowers- she%26#039;ll have to call whether she likes you or not, so that%26#039;s manipulative not romantic. Don%26#039;t keep pushing it by calling her on Valentine%26#039;s Day. Just cool it and wait.
Reply:no, surprise her.

Should I be getting rid of the flowers on my tomato plants?

We planted our first garden and have tomatoes. They are doing well but no fruit yet. I thought I remembered someone saying to pick off the flowers so that the energy goes into the food, but now I%26#039;m not so sure. Am I hurting my plants by doing this?

Should I be getting rid of the flowers on my tomato plants?
No!!! Flowers = tomatoes! If you pick your flowers, then don%26#039;t count on too many tomatoes! Good Luck!
Reply:take some blooms from the bottom but not many mind the main thing you should do is keep taking the side shoot off when they are big enough to handle.Feed your toms once a wk with tom liquid food take off any really big leaves too (with a knife or secatures)if you dont you will damage the stem. Did you know that a tomatoe plant only needs at the most 3 leaves its true the less leaves you have the more energy goes into the fruit not the leaves and thats were you need it.

good luck and watch out for tomatoe blite dont get your tomatoes to wet.
Reply:If you plants are 6 inches or more tall, then dig up the whole plant and pluck off everything half way and down(not the roots) and re-plant it deep and leave 2-3 inches showing above the ground. sprinkle a teaspoon of Epsom salts around it and give it a shot of root stimulator. This will give you something to reward your efforts as a first time gardener. water in the morning, once it get warmer out water well every morning, even when it look like it wilted and died. water on a regular basis, like 7-9 am. Not at night because you will promote molds and fungus that will spread through the whole garden.
Reply:Tomato%26#039;s are pollinated by the wind. Not by insects. So if their too wind protected you will have to preform this task with a artists brush. Good luck.Good question. A star is in order! Rem,ember the more flowers the more chances to pollinate.
Reply:Leave the blooms but pick off the little side shoots that keep appearing at the base of the main leaves.

Doing this means more energy goes into the blossoms and therefore the tomatoes.
Reply:Don%26#039;t take off the flowers! Everywhere there is a flower, a tomato will appear. Make sure your tomato plant gets lots and lots of sunshine.
Reply:The bloom is where you get your tomatoes......You would pick some of the bloom from pumpkins.........but not tomatoes......Good Luck
Reply:I do not pick my blooms..in fact when a cluster starts opening I spray them(blooms only) with %26quot;bloom set%26quot;..I do though heavily prune my tomatoes to generate energy to the fruit...Now also is the time to feed them a bloom buster fertilizer that is high in phospherous..and next to no nitrogen....The suckers are stems that come out inbetween a leaf and the main branch and some of them will fruit out and some not..I take my suckers after they get about 5 inches long and look for any small bloom nodes forming..if they have no nodes, I cut them off, put rooting harmone on the bottom and plant them directly into the soil...They will grow if watered sufficiently..I also trim off all the side leaves except I leave at leasst 4 sets of them on for proper photosynthesis..they need some leaves.. Bees do pollinate tomatoes..as some one here said they didn%26#039;t..but in the event you do not have many bees around...you can go shake each one daily , gently for about 5 sseconds and hand pollinate this way..i will give you some pictures of here from my cherry tomatoes..if you look closely you can see where I trimmed most of the side Non bearing leaves off...do not transplant the leaves but the %26quot;suckers%26quot;...These are haevily pruned..my big boy tomaroes
