Flowers for Mother's Day?

Mother's day is coming up and I would really like to send flowers to my boyfriend's mom. The thing is... we have never met... and I don't want to ask him which are her favorite flowers, because I want this to be a surprise. I would like some opinions (preferably from moms) on which kinds of flowers to send her. I am trying to be somewhat original by avoiding roses, because they are so popular and I have no idea about what the colors mean... please help someone... =D

Reply:Personally if you want to be really creative you could send his mother a origami flower bouquet. Then you won't have to deal with which flowers to get her and they would last far longer than real flowers. Plus its an original idea and if you made them, it would certainly mean a lot more.
