My girlfriend and I have been together quite a while now, and I've never gotten her flowers. The fact that she's still with me despite this lapse says something about how great she is, and I really want to get her some flowers, but I don't know what I should get her and need some ideas.
Roses are out. She likes them ok, but she thinks they're over played and it would mean very little to her. I want it it to say that I've put some time and thought into it. I want it to mean something special to her other than "Yeah, my boyfirend finally bought me some flowers."
She's also mentioned on more than one occasion that she dislikes flowers that have a strong smell to them and has specifically mentioned lilies as an issue, although I believe they were a specific species of lily, out of the many, so perhaps *all* lilies are not totally out.
She also tends to prefer darker and vibrant colors as opposed to bright/pastel.
What would you suggest?
What flowers should I get her?

Reply:Hey,
Thats soo sweet! Wish I had a boyfriend like you! I would suggest violets they come in blue and purple see dark. It doesn't give off MUCH scent but it still does give off one which all flowers do. Or just go to your nearest florist and ask for dark with little scent i'm sure they can help. And if they give you a funny look just say for my girlfriend cause if you go saying that to a florist your bound to get a look or two hundred. Good luck hope she likes them!
Reply:Try getting her orchids..... they don't have a strong smell and a unique look to them.
It doesn't really sound like she is into flowers... you may want to try just getting a small arrangement of flowers and adding something with it like a stuff animal or balloons.
Also, ask your florist they are really good about helping you come up with something original but definately stay away from carnations!!!
Reply:i think theres like daiseys or something that can be a dark red color but you should get say 5 real ones then put a fake on of the same flower in the middle and write a note (or say) ill love you when the last (whatever flower) dies.
...get it because its not living to start with so it can never die?
Reply:Well I suggest you go to a florist because thats where like these flowers are... and like you just typed an idea of what she likes and doesnt.. so like maybe i dont know go to a place where they have an assortment of different flowers and pick out the ones specific to her? Im prety sure.... a florist? yea is someone who deals with flowers so going to a florist might help u.. i dont know maybe im stupid but your gona have to go to a florist to get flowers i think? not yahoo.com? im not so sure..
Reply:I would suggest either black and red tulips or iris. Try also Orchids. I once bought these orchids that were a dark purple and blue and they were gorgeous not to mention not everyone gets orchids everyday. They're really exotic
Reply:Daisies, posies, or orchids. Orchids are expensive, but so beautiful and not given enough IMO.
Reply:Purple moonflowers.
Reply:give her some tulips and a heart shaped box of chocolate she will love u forever. all girls likes tulips. if u dont like them white u can always dye them colors with food dye
Reply:Gerber daisies or tulips
Reply:Tulips are always good. They come in various, deep colors. There are dark violet and blue ones... though I'm not sure if it is available in your area. Just ask the flower shop.

Reply:I dated this guy years ago, and he bought me roses, not just any roses, they were handcrafted and made of wood, they are died dark colours (mine are a deep red, and purple), and they are lighty sented to smell like roses). I don't like roses either, because there isn't any thought put into them.
The great thing about the roses is that they are made of wood, so they will never die, which you can say is like your love for her. Also the money made from the roses went to charity.
I thought it was the sweetest thing, and I still have them, 8 years later.
I could only find a website for wholesale, but maybe they can help.
